Jay Kruger, a past President of FWECA, has been working with the Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspection and Enforcement (DPIE) for several years on the derelict property at 13210 L’Enfant Drive. Jay knows and is in close contact with the Director of DPIE. Jay has taken the lead to coordinate with DPIE the enforcement of the Consent Order agreed to by the owner of the property in court proceedings with the county in May of 2017.
According to the Consent Order, the owner of this eyesore on L'Enfant Drive was supposed to complete the improvement project by December 22, 2017. The owner has violated almost all provisions of the Consent Order. The Consent Order states that the owner shall be fined $1,000 if the garage is not completed by December 22, 2017, and fined $100 each day after that date until completion. The Consent Order also states "The County shall have the authority to enter onto the subject property and abate any unsafe conditions up to, and including, demolition of the subject property (including the house)."
Ms Dodson, the county attorney who was recently assigned to the case regarding this property, said she thinks it would be a good idea for the civic association (FWECA) to write a letter regarding the property's continued negative impact on the community and expressing the association's concerns. She said the association's input as well as those expressed by Jay will be factored into the county's decision process. Joe Federline has drafted a letter to the Associate County Attorney and to the Director of the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE), (with courtesy copies to others in DPIE as suggested by Jay and to Obie Patterson as suggested by Paul Arneson). This draft letter has been sent to Carolyn Stevens for her review and revision, as needed.
The WSSC Water main Project remains on hold for our neighborhood, with no new start date.
Eric Linderman, of this committee, will head efforts to report abandoned and unlicensed vehicles in our neighborhood to the county.
Paul Arneson, of this committee, will continue efforts to seek county intervention in regard to 2 other derelict properties (one on Reid Circle, one on Fort Washington Road) in our neighborhood.
Joe Federline, chair of this committee, will attend the January 22nd meeting, open to the general public, at Police District VII Station, in regard to the IndianHead Highway (Route 210) situation.
