Meeting Minutes
January 16, 2018
Opening
The regular meeting of the Fort Washington Estates Civic Association was called to order at 8:00 pm on January 18, 2018 at the home of Carolyn Stevens.
Present
Carolyn Stevens, Sandra Stephon, Clem Gaynor, Joe Federline, and Brittany Carey.
Agenda
I. Review and Approval of Minutes: Carolyn Stevens raised a motion to approve the minutes for the meeting on December 12, 2017. The motion was passed by unanimous vote.
II. Finance Report: Clem Gaynor provided the Board with a FWECA balance sheet, attached hereto.
III. Review Agenda for January 24 General Meeting: Carolyn provided a draft agenda for review by Board members. Clem stated that he would not be able to present the budget at the General Meeting. Board members decided that the proposed budget would be printed and distributed to attendees of the General Meeting for their review and the Board could field any questions regarding the budget. Carolyn stated that she would contact Jay Kruger to see if he would be willing to provide residents with an update on the status of the L’Enfant Drive house project.
No changes were made to the agenda.
IV. Election of an Interim Secretary: Brittany Carey will step down as secretary, so she can begin work on a FWECA website. Carolyn Stevens nominated Joyce Grand to serve as interim secretary; Joyce was elected by unanimous vote.
V. Website Development: Brittany discussed progress made on the development of a FWECA website. She also fielded suggestions for information to be posted on the website, including: the Cove newsletter, community calendar, neighborhood news, local crime report from District VII, county contacts, neighborhood history and map, Board meeting minutes, and a list of our local, state and federal representatives with contact information.
VI. Government and Public Utilities Committee: Joe Federline submitted a committee report, attached hereto. Of note is the status of the property on L’Enfant Drive. A final stop work notice has been posted. FWECA will submit a letter to DPIE and the Associate County Attorney expressing the negative impact the property has on the community. It is now up to the Court to decide what will be done to the property; likely they will backfill the front yard or demolish the property.
VII. Communications Committee: The communications committee is working on finalizing the directory. Members of the committee decided that they will no longer publish the information of residents whose information was previously listed in the directory but who are no longer members of FWECA. This was done to ensure that we are not sharing address and contact information for residents without their consent.
Two ads, totaling $60, have been submitted for publishing in the directory. Directory ads received by the communications committee by January 24.
Adjournment
Meeting was adjourned by Carolyn Stevens. The next Board meeting will be at 8 pm with the date to be determined.
